Men from Ely who fought with the Australians or Canadians
The Ely Standard tells us that during the Great War a number of Ely and Prickwillow men who had emigrated fought with Australian or Canadian forces – their names can be found in four places:
- The casualty lists (both killed and injured)
- Those who were given awards for bravery
- Prisoners of War
- And those who took advantage of France’s closeness to England to come home to visit family when they were on leave from the Front.
