Men from Ely who fought with the Australians or Canadians

The Ely Standard tells us that during the Great War a number of Ely and Prickwillow men who had emigrated fought with Australian or Canadian forces – their names can be found in four places:
  • The casualty lists (both killed and injured)
  • Those who were given awards for bravery
  • Prisoners of War
  • And those who took advantage of France’s closeness to England to come home to visit family when they were on leave from the Front.
In addition, the database of the Canadian Great War Project and the Australian Imperial Force Nominal Roll added some more names to the list.  Click here for the names discovered so far.
